Movie Night

This weekend has gone by too fast, but it's been pretty fun. It started off with a football game and free food on Friday night, districts and movies on Saturday night, and then church this morning and here we are.

Friday was actually a pretty crappy day until the football game. Webb City played Neosho and we killed them, 44 to 7. They actually scored early on, and it came out of freakin' nowhere, but after that they had nothing on us. When the football game ended I headed into the school cafeteria for 5th quarter, an FCA thing which was pretty fun. The cookies and brownies were delicious, but there wasn't any milk, so yeah...it could've been better with milk. There was worship which was fun; I had no idea Goggins was a drummer.

Saturday was a pretty long day. I woke up at 730, had breakfast and headed over to the school. We had our cross country districts race in Nevada. Everyone was feeling good and ready, even Ryan, whose knee had been hurting him because his hip was uneven AND he'd had a rash all over his body the night before and had to go to the ER. Hance was also looking forward to finally going to state, and he especially wanted to go as a team. We got there, and the first race was the girl's varsity. Bethany Roy got second place, automatically getting her a spot at state. Boys varsity ran second, and we started off great. Our mile times were right where we wanted them (5:45 for me), but something happened. The medications Ryan took for his rash caused him to fall back and everything fell apart. We ended up getting 5th out of 6th place! Hance didn't even get to go to state, which really sucked, because he deserved it more than anyone there.

That night I went to Ryan's and a bunch of people came over to watch some scary movies for Halloween. The movies weren't actually scary, but they were Halloween classics. So there where about 13 of us; Ryan, Whitney, Laun (foreign exchange student...don't know how to spell her name), Sam, Justin "JK" Kidston, Logan "L-Dub" Walker, Goggins, and Lyndi. We watched Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. Halloween is probably the most classic horror movie ever, but everyone thought it was retarded. First off, I was surprised no one had seen it but me...I mean do people live in a cave or something? They show that movie 20 times every year during Halloween. The whole time we watched Halloween we were crackin jokes, but the funniest thing came from Goggins when we watched Nightmare on Elm Street. If you've seen it, maybe you remember when Johnny Depp's character got pulled into his bed all the blood sprayed out from the bed and filled the room. Well someone mentioned blood donations and Goggins didn't even miss a beat, he said "Congratulations, you've just completed all your community service hours." It was the best. I only wish people were more open minded and could appreciate those movies for what they were...I mean, they only paved the road for the kind of horror movies we watch today.

Anyway, this morning we went to church and ironically I'm now watching The Exorcist. I have to go now, so have a good day.

The Fight

Last Sunday was kind of boring; all I did was sit at home and watch movies. One of the movies I watched was The Bourne Identity, because I'm reading the book. Some people who know me know how I love knowing self-defense moves and such, and someday I'd love to learn jujitsu, which is a less formal self-defense that Bruce Lee founded and made it into sort of a mixed martial arts. Anyway, I was watching Matt Damon on-screen and even though it was all choreographed I couldn't help but think, "I really want to do that to someone some day."

I like boxing, but street fighting just isn't my thing. It's pointless, proves nothing, and is a waste of time and energy, so if someone puts me in a situation where I absolutely have to fight them, no question about it, I want to take them out quickly with as much pain as possible, because I want them to learn the first time that they don't want to fight me again. I know this isn't always the case, because you win some and lose some; trust me, I know. So I went onto Youtube and looked up self-defense/street fighting moves. I found a few videos that were pretty cool; from Sensei Anthony Britton, a jujitsu champion, and UFC champion Bas Rutten. There's too many videos to actually put in my blog so I'm going to list my favorite ones below:

Bas Rutten Self-Defense - "I don't believe in an eye for an eye. I believe in two eyes for an eye."

Anthony Britton - Vital Striking Points (this one is very good, even though I knew most of them)

Anthony Britton - Choke Hold Release (I hate choke holds so I love this move)

Anthony Britton
- Advanced Choke Hold Release

Anthony Britton
- Loop Choke Submission (choke a person who is on top of you with their own clothes)

ExpertVillage - Disarm an attacker with a gun (very good video, but timing is everything)

Lijun Wang - Gun Disarm #1

Lijun Wang - Gun Disarm #2

Lijun Wang
- Punch Counter Attack (also pretty cool, but time is everything)

...and that's pretty much it for anyone interested. That's not all, however, I've saved the most important video for last.

If you want more just Google Video/Youtube "self-defense tips" or whatever.

Have a good day,

Wolfman

So the day was pretty boring. Woke up at around 10am and got on my laptop; I listened to music, watched a few movies, talked to some people on MSN Messenger. Overall it was boring. It wasn't until about 8pm that things picked up a bit.

Anthony Hance just turned 18, so a surprise party was arranged for him at King Jack Park. Ryan picked me up at around 8 o'clock and we headed over there. It was pretty cool. There was a band that played some good music, I knew more than a few of the people who also went, and the giant birthday cookie was the most delicious thing I'd had all day. After the party a few of us were going spookhousing.

We left at 930 and met up with some other people in front of Big Lots. There were about fifteen of us, so it was fun. Of the fifteen I knew Ryan, Emily, Kelsey, Andrew, Josh, L-Dub, and Bethany. When we got there they were all waiting for us, and no one could decide on which spook house to go to. Initially they'd decided to go the The Gates of Hell, but when we finally got there the place was basically a shed, and for $10 it didn't seem worth it. Not to mention everyone coming out kept saying how stupid it was.

Ryan finally talked some of the girls to drive out to Wolfman House of Screams. They didn't want to go because they lived in Joplin, and Wolfman was out between Pittsburg and Oronogo. When we got there we got our tickets and waited in a half-lit, hot, crowded room...but it wasn't as bad as it sounds. When we finally got in there it was dark, and the whole thing was like a big maze. It took us about 20 minutes to get through, and our group was me, of course, Andrew, Emily, Kelsey, Bethany, and another girl who's name I didn't catch. Anyway, Kesley quit half-way through lol, and more than half the time either Bethany or Emily were holding onto me. To be honest I never really got scared, but there were a lot of neat things in there. It was solid entertainment well worth the $8 admission ticket. I tried to get Aleigha to come with us earlier, but I didn't get a hold of her before I left to see if she wanted to go.

Well, now I'm going to read my book to get that over with (damn CAIII) and watch The Omen. I've seen the original one, but I've heard this one is pretty good, so it looks like I'm going to be up until 3 tonight again.

Don't Worry, Be Happy -- psht!

Today was a pretty crummy day. I won't say why exactly, but it's just a lot of the little things that add up and at the end of the day you just feel overwhelmed. I think my problem is that I really look too deeply into things and misinterpret them in a lot of ways, because it's obvious that we can't see all sides of the equation, and because of this limited perspective we often make things out to be worse than they really are.

Last December, right before Christmas, was my birthday. I went with my brother and sister up to Derby, Kansas to visit my dad, but I ended up missing my birthday party at home. Well, since my phone is a piece of crap it was hard to get a hold of anyone, so the whole ride home I was sick to my stomach, because I knew I'd let a lot of people in my family down. This was a yearly thing for us too; everything was planned out, and I missed it! Well, my dad said something that was a little calming, "Don't worry, things are never as bad as they seem."

The more I think about that the more I seem to apply it to daily life. I also thought about how that could actually be true, and it's not hard to figure out or anything, but I figure I'll share it with you anyway. When we get ourselves into deep shit, or just simply worry and worry about something, no matter how small that thing is, we over exaggerate the situation in our heads to the point that when we finally face reality it's not as bad as we were expecting. I see it as a good thing, because if things were as bad as they seem, then life would suck.

I admit that I'm very fortunate, but it's always the more important things you worry about most. Although I may be fortunate, I also believe that if luck truly does exist, then a person only experiences so much of it before their luck stops for a little bit, and they go through a lot of crap. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places for the answer to my problems, but I definitely feel like my luck is running out for a little while. Hopefully things will turn around before the week ends and things will get better.

Anyway, just thought I'd get that out, even though no one knows what I'm talking about, hopefully you can relate in some way.

Have a good day/night (as always),

D-Day -2 weeks

So we're about two weeks away from districts in cross country and I've been running into a string of bad luck as far as injuries go. They're all minor injuries, but it doesn't take much to hinder a person from running.

So my week has been going really good actually despite my leg troubles. Last weekend got really boring after the Webb City vs. Pittsburg football game; I actually got so bored it hurt...literally. Am I the only person who can get so bored that they get a not in their stomach, the type of not you get when you see a dog get run over? Well, let me tell you, it sucks, but I somehow tolerate it pretty well (seeing as how my house hasn't caught on fire yet, or the fact that I haven't started riding the laundry basket down the stairs). Monday was a pretty good day though. School gave me something to do, and it was a nice and rainy day which kept me peaceful.

Today was also a pretty good day, I don't know why, it's just a feeling I'm left with at the end that makes me feel -- what's a good word? -- happy. However, cross country doesn't seem to be going too well. Yesterday we ran Aylor hill to Carl Junction road and back to the school...three times (6 miles). Aylor hill always screws me up somehow; first it was my knee, now it's my hip flexor. Coach B says he might put me in the swimming pool tomorrow so I can still get a good workout, but I'll be healthy for our meet at Neosho on Thursday.

Gosh my life is boring, I feel sorry for the poor souls actually reading this crap. I remember some of my first blogs I at least attempted to be humorous, but nowadays I'm just too pooped to give a crap.

Well, have a good day...since I lack in humor I'll make up for it with this video,

Homecoming

So today, technically yesterday, was pretty fun. School was okay, and lifting weights after school was the usual, blah, blah, blah.

After school I waited in the cafeteria and sat with Brian Lovejoy while we ate some left over cookies from the Carl Junction cross country meet we had Thursday (we beat CJ by 50 points). At around 4:30 my brother picked me up at the high school, and his friend Zach was with him. We went back to my house and they played a little bit of Halo 3. After awhile it got boring so we went to Wendy's.

Maybe I haven't been to Wendy's in a long time, but they have frosties now with M&Ms and Oreos! So I was stoked; I got the nuggets and oreo frosty...it was very delicious. After that we went to the football game, one of Webb City's biggest games of the season actually, against Pittsburg. Since my brother is from Pitt he went and sat in the student section on his side while I roamed around for the first half of the game trying to find someone I could hang with.

I finally found some cross country guys and sat with them and watched us beat Pittsburg 14 to 6...oh yes. Take that, Purple Dragons! After that was the homecoming dance, pretty much the lamest thing ever. The music sucked, and...it just sucked. The best part was when Bethany Roy danced with her dad (and, boy, can they dance), and when they showed the music video to Thriller. After Thriller, Ryan, Andy, Andrew, and I went to Rachel's house and watched most of Braveheart in their nice theater room. Nice, comfy, reclining movie seats, a big screen, candy, soda, and a popcorn machine; this family doesn't even need to go to a theater.

Well, that was it. I know it probably doesn't sound too interesting, but that's just because I'm too tired to give a rat's ass about making it interesting...so have a good day/night.
